Johnny Thunders, again -- Ignoring the duck face, everything (else) about this is astounding, in part because everything is either white, black, or gold. Golden yellow, if you count the guitar. The interplay of textures--flowing, silk(?) shirt, weightier but proportional trousers, lace neckpiece, leather guitar strap, gold adornments on said strap, gold heavy chain--creates an outfit that's neither overly stark nor overly busy. The former might have occurred because there are only three different colours, and the latter because there's a lot going on, regardless. The dual-patterned shirt; chain; black and white lace at the neck; suspenders; and guitar strap could easily become overwhelming in the wrong context. Also, it bears mention that the subtle stripes behind the (wonderfully sized) polka dots are brilliant. The picture's not quite high enough quality to tell, but I think the stripes are also a different material. Anyway, these two pictures are why Johnny Thunders is my style icon. |
